PRECINCTS
General
The smallest and most important political unit in the Democratic Party is the precinct. The precinct is organized to support Democratic candidates and get out the vote on election day.
In Beaufort County, there are 134 precincts. The precinct is intended to be comprised of registered voters totaling no more than 1500. Precincts are organized around a central polling place where people cast their ballots. Due to the population growth in Beaufort County, many precincts share the same polling location.
Representing a Precinct in the Beaufort County Democratic Party
Each precinct may elect an executive committee member (and alternate) to the BCDP Executive Committee. These members vote on Beaufort County Democratic Party Executive Committee business and participate in party committee leadership.
